Training Opportunity - Side Channel Assessment and Fry Salvage Training (July 13, 2012)

Coho and trout fry are trapped every year as streams dry up. We are holding a double-whammy training session in a side channel off the Tsolum River that traps fry every year. We will be designing and implementing a Streamkeeper Method Assessment of the channel so you can learn new skills or practice the skills you have already learned.

We will be digging some "sump" holes by hand where fry can accumulate while allowing salvage by gee trap and pole seine. This program will train and equip individuals to perform fry salvage every year on your own property, in ditches and other off channel areas where you might see fry isolated from the stream trapped and doomed without your help!
